Role Purpose:

Drive successful planning of a portfolio of projects through proactive management of business stakeholders, vendors, IT stakeholders, finance and SCM. Manage dependencies, scope and budget of the constituent parts of the Demand Projects (Individual Projects, Small Change, Configuration Changes and BAU initiatives) to achieve business objectives. 

Own the Business Engagement and Demand Planning processes, ensuring all planning processes and governance structures are documented and clearly communicated to IT and Business Stakeholders. 


Champion planning options in Agile, combined Agile and Waterfall, along with traditional waterfall approach. 

Build and document the Business Engagement and Planning Process for using an Agile approach to project delivery.


Drive continuous improvements and deliver areas of internal best practice and in particular identifying areas of improvement in structure, practices, methodology, policies and processes leveraging a wider industry knowledge of Demand Management to improve conditions for the team.


Drive Customer Satisfaction with IT Demand as a whole with our IT and Business Stakeholders by ensuring Demand Management delivers with speed and simplicity and that there is a consistently high standard of execution. 


Actively communicate the IT Demand Pipeline to the respective Business Units by compiling a weekly dashboard outlining status, progress and actions. 


Manage and prioritise all IT Demand for projects in the ODP Release plan and Configuration Release plans, Small Change and BAU initiatives.

Own the formulation of the Outline Delivery Plan encompassing Projects, Small Change, Configuration Changes and BAU initiatives ensuring that all delivery dates are backed off with Vodafone Group, IT vendors, IT Stakeholders and other internal teams. 

Manage the annual demand planning phase and budget prioritisation cycle.

Manage changes to the Outline Delivery Plan in-year and the associated budget prioritisation.


Key accountabilities for this role are:  

IT Demand Planning

•Manage the IT Demand Plan including ODP Projects, Small Change, Configuration Changes and BAU initiatives 

•Drive the end-to-end Business Engagement and Demand management process, including managing in-year changes and prioritisation for all major and minor change channels

•Management of the ODP Demand Planning and annual prioritisation, and ad hoc / in year CRs to the ODP 

•Work with the Business Architects & Head of Architecture to plan the initial Idea / Project assessment & sizing, and Lead the Clinic, Idea, Sizing process in the Envisioning / pre-Concept phase

•Focus effort on Content knowledge feeding into Demand Plan; Formulate inputs on Capex / Opex related aspects to be utilised by Head of Demand, CIO & Technology Governance

•Ad hoc communications / analysis & investigations related to Demand planning

•Engage key internal and 3rd party suppliers (in Group and locally) to size and shape demand early in the lifecycle to meet business expectations within budget, resource and time-to-market constraints


IT Business Engagement and Demand Mgt Processes

•Ensure all Business Engagement and Demand Management processes are clearly documented and communicated.

•Drive planning options based on Project Profile and Priority, ensuring an Agile approach is leveraged where possible

•Implement continuous improvement in our processes with an eye on efficiencies and accurate output


IT Demand Governance

•Ensure appropriate governance is followed for all Demand and Capex prioritisation asks – ensure content is prepared for Capex Approvals Board and Commercial Committees as appropriate

•Liaise with Architecture Representatives to ensure accurate and timely output of VROM and Architecture Appraisal documents.

•Ensure accurate updates to ODP Demand Pipeline View to enable accurate forecast of resource demands


Demand Management Alignment 

•Support the Head of Demand in Cross-Technology Demand Management Alignment, including ongoing activities to support the partnership with Technology Governance & Planning team, to assist in the creation and maintenance of an Integrated Technology Plan 

•Assist the Head of Demand in supporting, providing expertise & guidance to, and working closely with other Demand Planning & Analysis functions within Technology, specifically in the Mobile and Enterprise & Fixed Networks units – to help ensure a cohesive Technology demand management approach for Vodafone Ireland 

•Assist the Head of Demand in managing the interlock with other Technology and third party Demand Management functions (locally & Group-level),  and with other major programmes such as Equinox 


Supplier Engagement

•Work proactively with AD Partners to ensure we leverage the contracts to drive efficiency and value. 

•Provide suppliers with early visibility of the ODP to enable them to mobilise their delivery resources

•Support, participate in and contribute to the evolution and roll-out new AD contracts as appropriate

•Educate new vendors on our demand and delivery processes so they understand the ask

•Manage engagement of key internal and 3rd party suppliers to size, shape and plan IT change early in the lifecycle within budget, resource and time-to-market constraints

•Liaise closely with Vodafone Group on new asks, ensuring close alignment of release and delivery plans

•Build and maintain relationships with peers across other OpCos.

•Manage effective Demand Planning communications, knowledge management and reporting / trackers / dashboards

•Provide weekly reports to the Head of Demand on the progress of Business Engagement and Demand Planning and Continuous Improvement activities 

•Assist in defining and managing a standardised process and approach to ODP and Demand Planning communication with stakeholders


The successful person will ideally have some or all of the following Skills & Attributes:  


•Strong Portfolio Management with ability to manage up to 20  Ideas through the Demand channel at any one time

•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

•Excellent follow through with a strong sense of urgency plus ability to influence

•Ability to drive progress with multiple stakeholders

•Technical background in Telcommunications or another related Technical Discipline



•Knowledge and experience of planning Agile and Waterfall projects

•Knowledge of Vodafone business processes and systems an advantage

•Demonstrable experience of Demand Management practices

•Thorough and practical understanding of project lifecycle and delivery of cross functional projects

•Excellent budget planning and project planning skills

•Strong vendor management experience 

•Strong leadership and motivational skills

•Experience of managing cross functional and virtual teams

•Experienced facilitator

•Creative and innovative approach to issue resolution and conflict management
